In our 16+ years in business, we’ve seen several programming companies and Crestron dealers go out of business, especially when the economy was in a depressed state. Many homeowners or business owners who worked with one of these now-defunct companies found themselves in a tough spot when the company that originally programmed their system was no longer available for system support.
There will come a time that changes will need to be made to almost every system we program—often when a client wants their system upgraded to accommodate new technology. When that time comes, it is very beneficial to go back to the company that originally programmed the system to make any changes, since that company will have the source code. Having access to the source code can save clients a lot of time and money on changes or upgrades, since without it, a programmer will have to develop a new program from scratch.
A recent project we worked on really highlights the benefits of hiring a programming company with experience and intimate knowledge of an existing system. For this project, we were called in by a homeowner named Susan, who had recently purchased a house in Coronado that had been programmed by AVPA years ago using Crestron. Since completing the original programming, the home had changed hands twice. Unfortunately, the second owner of the home had taken some of the AV equipment with him when he sold the house, making much of the system useless for Susan and her family.
Fortunately, Susan was given our contact information as the original programmers of the system, and she gave us a call to see if we could get her system up and running again. Since we had the source code, the process of fixing up her system was much smoother than it would have been had she had to call in a new San Diego Crestron programming company with no knowledge of her home and its original programming.
Susan now has a home with a system using Crestron to seamlessly control everything from AV to lighting to HVAC, and she couldn’t be happier! She recently sent a text to AVPA owner Matthew Grisafe saying, “All is fabulous! Thank you for all your help…you have been a lifesaver!”
Just like we were able to help Susan, AVPA can help you with Crestron or Extron programming for your existing system. If the company that originally programmed your Crestron or Extron system is no longer around, AVPA can help you as well. We have many years of experience working on and upgrading legacy projects that other companies won’t even touch.
If you are looking for an experienced Crestron and Extron programming company in San Diego to support or upgrade your existing system, we’d love to talk with you. Contact us today to set up a consultation.
