At AVPA, we get contacted fairly often by people who have bought homes with existing Crestron systems in them. While these homeowners like the idea of having custom smart home systems in their homes, the existing systems don’t exactly meet their needs. This makes sense because the systems were designed with the previous owners in mind. Since we are one of the few Crestron programmers in the country who will work with existing Crestron systems, these homeowners contact us to help them program their Crestron systems to fit their specific needs and to take advantage of the latest smart home technology. While these types of projects often come with unique challenges, we are happy to take them on and help homeowners get the customized smart home they had hoped for!
However, homeowners aren’t the only ones that are looking to update or expand upon their existing Crestron systems. The team at AVPA has also worked with many commercial enterprises and governmental entities that need help with their existing systems. While many of these clients would love to take everything out and start from scratch to get customized control of the various systems in their buildings (audiovisual, lighting, HVAC, etc.), budgetary constraints often require that they simply work with the equipment they already have. That’s where AVPA comes in.
We have the capabilities to work with any company or government agency that needs to update their building’s Crestron control system, but that doesn’t necessarily want to give it a complete overhaul. In these cases, we always do our best to utilize existing hardware, and we only recommend hardware upgrades that are truly necessary to accomplish the organization’s goals. We can do this because we have more than 20 years of experience as Crestron programmers. We’ve worked with every generation of hardware that Crestron has produced over the years. We know their capabilities and how to get the greatest amount of functionality out of them.
At AVPA, we take a customized approach to every project and every client. We understand that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to building control systems. Every building is different, and every client has different needs. Our Crestron programmers are experts at providing customized solutions—even for the complex and diverse needs of various businesses or government entities.
If you work in a building with an existing Crestron system and have been told by another Crestron programmer that in order to get the functionality you’re looking for, you need to start from scratch with all new hardware, you may want to get a second opinion. It’s often easier (and more profitable) to do a complete overhaul of a system, rather than work with an existing system. However, this may not be in the best interest of your organization, financially speaking. When you bring in AVPA for a consultation, we’ll evaluate your existing system and give you honest feedback about what needs to be done to give your Crestron system the functionality you need. Yes, sometimes this means a complete system overhaul, but often it doesn’t.
