If you’re searching for a Crestron programmer for your upcoming project, you may be wondering how important it is to hire one who is certified by Crestron—or if it matters at all. There are plenty of programmers out there offering their services as Crestron programmers who have not gone through the process to become certified by Crestron. These are people who have likely learned on the job, and/or who have taken some courses but never actually went through the entire process to become certified by Crestron.
While there are certainly some non-certified Crestron programmers out there who would do good job for you, it can definitely be a gamble to hire someone who has not gone through the entire process to become certified. Here’s why:
Becoming a Certified Crestron Programmer Involves Extensive Training
While a non-certified programmer will likely have some sort of training—either formal or informal—going through the entire Crestron Certified Programmer Training Program definitely gives a programmer an advantage. The official training program includes both online courses and hands-on experience. The courses cover everything from the Crestron programming language, to the programming environment, to the Crestron control system itself. The program includes everything that Crestron feels is vital for a programmer with their official designation to know.
The extensive hands-on lab portion of the training allows programmers to put their knowledge into practice in scenarios that mimic real-world programming projects.
A Certified Crestron Programmer Has Passed a Strenuous Exam Demonstrating Expertise
Once a programmer has completed the Crestron Certified Programmer Training Program, he or she can then sit for the Crestron Certified Programmer Exam.
This isn’t just a multiple-choice test. The exam can take someone upwards of 100 hours to complete. It requires a programmer to demonstrate a deep understanding of Crestron programming by creating code for various scenarios they might come across in the real world.
Passing the exam isn’t a given by any means. Those who pass it are skilled, knowledgeable, and have proven the ability to problem solve on the job. Passing the exam also demonstrates a dedication to the craft of Crestron programming.
Once a programmer passes the Crestron Certified Programmer Exam, he or she is officially a Crestron-certified Programmer.
Crestron Service Providers
Crestron Service Providers (CSPs), of which AVPA is one, are companies that have Crestron-certified programmers on staff. As a CSP, our company has access to continuing education courses and Crestron’s True Blue Support team, among other benefits.
If you’re looking for a Crestron programmer to provide you with proven expertise, AVPA definitely fits the bill!
You will come across AV companies and Crestron dealers that have some programming abilities in-house. However, on large or complex jobs, they often outsource the Crestron programming to companies like ours, which have more extensive programming knowledge and expertise.
We would love to hear about your upcoming project and how our team can help with the Crestron programming aspect of it. Contact us today to start the discussion.
