When something in your home breaks, it can often be a challenge to find someone who can fix it. Quality repair people are few and far between. In addition, the cost to fix something, like an appliance or computer, could be so high that it doesn’t make financial sense to make the repairs, so you just buy a new one.
People sometimes come across this situation with their Crestron systems. It might be the case that they invested a good amount of money in Crestron programming to get a customized system many years ago, and now they want to upgrade it or make changes to it. Or it could be that the system isn’t working properly anymore, and they need someone to troubleshoot the system and fix it.
If the original Crestron programming company is no longer in business, it can be very difficult to find someone to work on a system that they didn’t originally program. Rather than attempting to troubleshoot problems, many programmers will recommend starting from scratch and having an entirely new system designed and programmed. In some cases, this is the best solution—particularly if the existing equipment is too outdated to give the client the functionality they are looking for. However, in other cases, an existing system can be updated or expanded, saving the client a good amount of money, when compared to starting completely over with all new hardware and software.
There are two reasons why a Crestron programming company might not want to touch an existing system. First of all, they may not be familiar with older Crestron technology and can’t confidently work with it. Second, they simply may not want to take the time to figure out the issues or analyze the existing code. From the programmer’s perspective, it’s almost always easier to start from scratch. It can also be more lucrative for the company.
Here at AVPA, we are a Crestron programming company that many people come to when they want someone who is willing to do system troubleshooting. Since our company has been in business more than two decades, we are very familiar with just about all Crestron technology. We are great at troubleshooting and we love a good challenge!
It has happened more than once that a client has come to us having been told by another Crestron programming company that it wasn’t possible to fix or upgrade their existing system. However, when we took a look at it, we found that it was absolutely doable. We were able to save these clients a ton of money by using what they had, rather than completely starting over.
If you’ve been told by another company or programmer that you need all new hardware and software to get a Crestron system that meets your needs, AVPA would love to provide you with a second opinion. We will provide you with an honest assessment of your system and what it will take to get it to where you need it to be. At the end of the day, we may come to the same conclusion as the initial assessment you received, or we may be able to work with your existing Crestron system to save you money, while still providing you with the functionality you need. We work on both residential and commercial systems and serve most areas of the United States. Contact our office to tell us about your Crestron programming project or send us a message through our contact form.
