Crestron Programming for San Diego Presentation and Video Conferencing System
For this project, we were brought in to be a part of the remodeling of the Rainbow Fire Center in Fallbrook, California, which belongs to the CAL FIRE/San Diego County Fire Protection District. Up until 2020, this station was a Conservation Camp, which housed inmate fire crews and correctional staff. It served as a minimum-security facility, allowing incarcerated individuals the opportunity to complete their sentence while performing vital services to the community. However, in 2020, the Conservation Camp was depopulated and converted into a Fire Center that now houses five 15- to 18-person professional firefighter crews. At all times, a minimum of two crews are at the Center and are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to serve the community.
AV Programming Associates was brought in by JEC Integration Systems (an integrator we’ve been working with for more than a decade) to help deploy a state-of-the-art presentation and video conferencing system in the Fire Center’s training room. The new system allows the firefighters at the Rainbow Fire Center to stay up to date on the latest tactics for fighting fires in this fire-prone area, and it also allows them to easily and effectively communicate with those outside of the station.
When using the new system in presentation mode, firefighters will use the Crestron DMPS3-4K-250-C system, which can display various sources (PCs, laptops, Blu-Ray) to the main projector or to a display in the middle of the room (depending on the size of the meeting).
In video conference mode, users will be connected to Microsoft Teams using the Crestron Flex UC-C100-Z. The same system can also be used as a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) system if participants want to use a different meeting platform for video conferencing, such as Google Meet or Zoom.
Other equipment used in this project includes the Epson BrightLink 735Fi Projector, which delivers true-to-life images and features a built-in electronic whiteboard, and the Biamp TesiraFORTE for the room audio. These are products that are found in many training rooms and classrooms around the country due to their amazing performance and ease of use.
