Crestron Programming for the University of Nevada, Reno’s New Business Building
Business students at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) have a new place to call home. In August of 2025, UNR celebrated the grand opening of the John Tulloch Business Building, a 128,000-square-foot building that features state-of-the-art classrooms, multiple areas for study and collaboration, a 300-seat auditorium, a finance lab with real-time stock market data, and a career development center.
For this project, AVPA was contracted by Teledata Technologies, a Reno-based company that specializes in business technology systems. The team at AVPA was tasked with providing Crestron programming for 20 spaces in the new business building, as well as Q-Sys programming where needed. The 20 rooms that required Crestron automation included ten classrooms, one active learning center, two smart classrooms, three conference rooms, two boardrooms, a café, and the auditorium.
In most of the rooms, we utilized a Crestron DMPS3-4K-350, a programmable 4K AV presentation system with fully configurable signal routing and processing. The built-in Crestron AirMedia technology allows for wireless presentation of content from in-room personal computers, laptops, doc cameras, or mobile devices, making it easy for professors and presenters to share content. The conference rooms, boardrooms, and auditorium were each equipped with multiple cameras, as well as the Crestron Automate Camera Tracking System. This voice-activated tracking system detects who is speaking and automatically directs one of the in-room cameras to focus on him or her. This technology was then integrated into the Teams system to help remote participants better engage with presentations and meetings.
