Given that our company is located near San Diego and its multiple military bases, it may come as no surprise that AVPA has completed a good amount of military and government jobs. We’ve done Crestron programming for several command centers at the Point Loma base, but we’ve also worked with other U.S. military bases around the world—even as far away as Singapore. In fact, our very first Crestron programming job as a company (way back in 2001) was for the Central Intelligence Agency. Recently, AVPA landed another exciting government project! This one involves Crestron programming for six secret conference rooms at a U.S. military installation on the island of Guam. Each of the six conference rooms will have the ability to operate in two different modes—a secret mode and an unclassified mode—for meetings, briefings, and conferences.
The technical side of this project is being mocked up in Washington D.C., and once it is complete and has been tested, it will be sent to Guam for installation.
Not too long ago, AVPA finished a very similar military job in Coronado that involved conference rooms with secret and classified modes, so we are excited to be able to apply our experience to this new project. Though the two jobs are strikingly similar, they are not related, and each project came to us through different contacts we’ve developed over the years.
The government projects (the military projects in particular) that we’ve completed since we began our business have been some of the most interesting Crestron programming jobs we’ve done. Though much of this work is classified, we can say that being able to participate in projects that allow our government to receive real-time satellite feeds from around the world, helping them to make decisions that affect the safety of our country, is extremely gratifying!
These types of projects require a tremendous amount of attention to detail as you can probably imagine, but we put no less effort into projects we do for any of our other Crestron programming customers.
