Businessing Magazine, the new magazine for entrepreneurs and small business owners, recently featured our book, “Our Code: History, Practices & Processes of AVPA.” The book explores the journey from a small Crestron programming company with just two people on staff to what we are today, a thirteen year success story in a changing and nuanced field.
We are pleased to be featured by Businessing Magazine in the article that called “Our Code” an “accessible, relevant small business book.” Featured on the magazine’s homepage, the article mentions that the book reveals the value we place on creating relationships and maintaining an “authentic voice.” This is something that we strive to do not only in the telling of our programming company story, but in how we serve our Crestron programming clients, how we generate new business, and how we operate here in the office with each other.
Having written the book about the story of AVPA it is clear to see that every small business has its own challenges and opportunities. It is also clear that a success story, along with practical advice for growing and maintaining a business while staying true to company values and hard work, can be a strong motivator for entrepreneurs and small businesses that are just starting or are in their initial growth periods. As the review notes, “Our Code”is “as much about overcoming the unique challenges of starting and running a small business in a period that has seen shifting consumer priorities, economic growth, recession, and an increased focus in the technology sector, as it is about AVPA.” And we are particularly proud of that.
One of the reasons for writing “Our Code: History, Practices & Processes of AVPA” was to tell the story of the evolution of our Crestron programming company in a manner that gives insight into who we are, how we do business, and how all of that comes together to make us successful. To read a review that hits on some of the most important aspects of how we make all this happen, including how “putting value on relationships did not stop when the company started to grow” is encouraging as we continue to grow as a business and look at our history as well as our future.
