AVPA is proud to announce that one of our recent residential projects, for which we did the Crestron programming, won a top award at CEDIA’s 2017 Home Technology Professional Awards competition! Specifically, the award was for “Best Integrated Home – Level IV” in the Americas. Level IV refers to a project with a budget of $450,000 or more. The winners were announced earlier this month at the CEDIA Celebration hosted on the USS Midway in San Diego, and the winning entries have now been sent on to the Global competition in London. AVPA Lands New Crestron Programming Job with the United States Military
Given that our company is located near San Diego and its multiple military bases, it may come as no surprise that AVPA has completed a good amount of military and government jobs. We’ve done Crestron programming for several command centers at the Point Loma base, but we’ve also worked with other U.S. military bases around the world—even as far away as Singapore. In fact, our very first Crestron programming job as a company (way back in 2001) was for the Central Intelligence Agency. (You can read more about this first job, as well as other company stories in Matthew Grisafe’s book, Our Code). Are You a Business Owner or an AV Programmer? Matthew Grisafe, AVPA Owner, Answers
Recently, someone asked me if I’d rather be known as a business owner or a programmer. I was a bit taken aback by this question at first, because I’d like to be known as both! I’ve been doing Crestron and Extron programming in San Diego for many years, and I have been the owner of AV Programming Associates for more than 15 years now. I’ve enjoyed both roles immensely. AVPA Celebrates 15 Years of Crestron Programming in San Diego and Beyond
AVPA was founded on September 11, 2001 (yes, that September 11), which made for somewhat of a rocky start. But here we are, 15 years later, with more than 1,250 successfully completed projects under our belts, and still going strong!
Depending on your perspective, you may think 15 years in business is either a really long time, or no big deal. But let me tell you, 15 years in the professional audio/visual (A/V) industry is an eternity! This industry sees a lot of turnover. It seems like any time new technology comes along, another A/V company pops up, and most don’t seem to last more than a year or two. AVPA Delivers Crestron System to Control Lighting and Audio Visual Systems for San Diego’s First Passive House
AVPA recently completed work on a unique residential project in Ramona, California. The project, named “Casa Aguila” for the Golden Eagles that regularly fly over the residence, is being called “the most advanced home built in San Diego County.” It will be the first home in San Diego County to be certified as a Passive House, which means it has been designed to achieve maximum levels of energy efficiency, while still maintaining a certain level of comfort. The homeowners are striving to be completely off the grid by utilizing a combination of battery, solar, and wind power in their home. Completed Crestron Programming Project: THE LOT in La Jolla and Liberty Station
We wanted to give you some insight into one of the commercial projects we recently completed at AVPA in order to give you an example of the type of Crestron programming we do for our commercial clients in San Diego and the resulting automated control we can provide for commercial spaces.
A while back, we were connected with THE LOT, a new, high-quality dining and luxury cinema experience with two locations (La Jolla and Liberty Station in San Diego). Each location is as unique as the neighborhood in which it resides, but both needed AVPA’s Crestron programming expertise to control building management systems, as well as lighting, audio, and video throughout the venues.
