Here at AVPA, we recently finished work on an exciting project! We had the privilege of being a part of the team of Crestron programmers for the brand new Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. This large, state-of-the-art facility is home to the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Pistons, and also hosts top recording artists and other large events. The arena is one of the main hubs of the newly renovated The District Detroit, which is seeking to revitalize the downtown core of Detroit by making it a more vibrant place to live, work, and play. I recently had an interesting interaction with a former client. We haven’t done work together in a while, but we reconnected shortly after he had visited our company’s website, which had recently been redesigned. He commented that, based on our website, our company appeared to be too “big time” to work with someone like him. I didn’t probe too much into why he thought that, but I’m guessing it’s because he saw that we’ve done work with some large corporations and government agencies and have won some impressive awards for Crestron and Extron programming, and he thought that his relatively small project wouldn’t be worth our time. At AVPA, we don’t just do Crestron programming for new homes or for homes that have never had any sort of smart home programming before. We are also able to work on homes with Crestron systems already in place, even if they are older systems. Maybe you had a Crestron system installed in your home years ago and want to update it, or maybe you just moved into a home that has Crestron technology and want to make some changes. As Crestron programmers, much of what we do at AVPA is highly technical. We’re the behind-the-scenes team that makes customized smart home technology possible. We do the complex programming so the end user can enjoy an easy-to-use, but powerful, home control and automation system. It’s critically important that we remain a top Crestron and Extron programming resource. So we’re constantly evolving as technology advances and AV systems change. We attend Crestron training annually and are always learning new programming and user interface techniques.
At the same time, part of AVPA’s mission is to develop lasting, loyal relationships with our customers and end users. Our goal is to build true partnerships with like-minded people with whom we can work and grow together. Continue reading “Building True Partnerships with Integrators, Dealers and End Customers” »
Historically, Crestron system owners (homeowners, technology managers, end users, etc.) have accessed independent Crestron programmers (like us) indirectly through certified Crestron dealers and integration companies. In that role, we provide Crestron programming and design support as a sub-contractor to the dealer/ integrator who works with the end client.
For example, a homeowner hires a Crestron dealer to design the AV system, select products and install everything. Then the dealer brings in a Crestron programming company to make everything work together, allowing operation of all the components (a/v, lighting, HVAC, security system, shades, water features, etc.) as a single, controllable system.
